Laptop is Home

h1 October 27th, 2006

AppleCare worked fast and so far it looks like they did their job this time. The laptop arrived in CA (which, might I point out is on the opposite side of the country from where we live) yesterday. They fixed it and sent it back to me overnight and it arrived home late morning. So while it’s annoying that my laptop was one of the defective ones and sending it in at all is a bit annoying, I sure can’t complain about their speed. Of course by now they’ve probably replaced the heatsinks on so many of these affected MacBooks they likely could fix them in their sleep. Of course I am annoyed that they wiped my hard drive! I know this is my same laptop since there is a small smear of ink that is barely visible in one spot on it. But my hard drive was exactly like the day I originally received it. Thank goodness Jamie insisted on making a full back-up before we sent it off. Tonight he’ll restore everything. For now I am using our very flaky external hard drive (since that’s where the back-up is). But, it’s working, the laptop is home, all is well.

Meanwhile I’ve spent the last few days with a sick little baby. It is extremely exhausting just holding a sick little one. My muscles are all sore so I guess I’ve been pretty tense. He has croup. Common illness, but not one either of my other two ever had. Poor Fritz’s voice is hoarse (but getting better). He’s much, much better than he was a few days ago. I’ve had some very good (on-line) friends thinking about us and praying for us and no doubt that has helped in so many ways.

I’ve got a few ideas for blog postings bouncing around in my head. I’ll get them out over the next few days I am sure.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about your sick little one :-( Croup may be a relatively common illness, but it can be scary, especially in the middle of the night. Rose had it recurringly until she was about five, and then grew out of it - although she still gets a croupy cough sometimes when sick and anxious. I imagine you know all the remedies; therefore, I simply wish you well - or more specifically, wish Fritz well!

  2. Haqve you looked up homeopathics for it? And is it not pertussis? Both have homeopathics for them, I believe. Get well, l’il Fritz. :-)
