Playing in flour
September 4th, 2008
Ani made bread the evening of the 27th. Fritz spilled a couple handfuls of flour. They wanted to play in it, no big deal. That would be easy to clean up.

Next thing I know I discovered they had added more flour to the pile. Half of a newly opened 25 pound bag of it!

Now we’re talking about something so not easy to clean up. It was a mess! The whole downstairs had a thin layer of flour everywhere.

So the next day I canceled school and the kids helped me clean the whole house. It took 2 1/2 hours for the kitchen alone. The rest of the house took about 4 hours. I think they would have preferred to do school.

I also deducted $2.50 from each of their allowances (the cost of half a 25 pound bag of flour). They learned their lesson though. Ani said she learned to think before she acts. Good lesson I think.

OH WOW!!!! That is a LOT of flour!!!
Oh my goodness! I would have been so mad! LOL But it looks like the kids are having a BALL!!
Oh no! Here I am thinking that Ada will grow out of her mayhem phase. I can’t imagine her as an 8 year old.
Ok, I believed you when you said it was a lot of flour, but HOLY MOLY!!! It really does look like a lot of fun, but I can’t even begin to imagine the chore of cleaning that up! I’m sure you’re going to wipe down something and still get a little flour months from now. LOL
Oh. My. Gosh. That’s a lot of flour! The kids had fun and learned a lesson….win-win!
WOW! Have you ever heard of messy parties? Kids get to play with huge bags of flour, or whatnot, in the backyard, in grubby clothes; then they clean each other off with water squirting toys.
Oh my gosh! ROFL! Hahahahahaha!!! =D
Wow, you are one brave woman, and a wonderful mother. The best I ever did was laughing when my children got into a mud fight outside…I thought it was brilliant….but it did NOT come inside. I believe I made them totally strip in the mudroom.
ANYWAY - what fantastic pictures and what wonderful memories for your children. =) It looks like they’re having a really fabulous childhood. =)
I would have been upset, but I had to giggle at this. I know that while they were doing this they really had some fun. But, yes, lesson learned.
this is fabulous!!!!! I am laughing so hard right now.
OH - MY - GOODNESS!!!!!!! lol!
I may have not handled it quite so well. It sure beats eggs in the carpet any day.
LOL! I am so glad I got to see this! You can even see the flour on the camera lens! LOL!
My Remy is the same way, he gets started and forgets that I will see what he has done. LOL!
OMG that is tooo funny! Thank GOD my two girls didn’t make THAT big of a mess. I am rolling here! I think they loved going back to school the next day!
