RSVP - Is it really that hard to do?

Cameron’s birthday party is on Saturday. We sent out the invitations a little over a week ago. I requested that they RSVP by yesterday. We are having a science-themed party and knowing how many children are coming would be immensely useful for making the labcoats and setting up the science lab.
We invited 11 kids (10 families). As of yesterday a whopping 4 had RSVP’d. 2 Yes and 2 No. What really annoys me is three of the kids (two families) that have not RSVP’d are children who have had birthday parties in the last few months and they requested RSVPs, which I did by the date requested. So I am left to wonder why they deserved a courtesy that apparently I don’t. And just how many labcoats should I make…

Sounds like it is time to make some phone calls. I too dislike it that folks don’t RSVP but maybe, just maybe what happened to me happened to them.
Last Christmas I received a call from a neighbor asking me whether or not I had received their invitation cause they hadn’t heard from me. I hadn’t RSVP’d cause I did not received the invitation. Turns out that the four families who hadn’t RSVP’d hadn’t received the invite. Now, they had invited, oh, 50 or 70 families, so this was a huge affair, and somehow a few invits had gone astray.
I would call, and maybe they too didn’t get the invite (or they just aren’t polite)
Thanks for reminding me that I need to RSVP to a birthday party my son was invited to! Usually I am very good about that, but we had unexpected travel this past weekend and it slipped my mind. Is that a good excuse?
For my son’s last “big” birthday party, we invited about 15 people and maybe 6 RSVP’d. It is frustrating. Hope the party goes well for you, though!

This is SUCH a pet peeve of mine. I’ve always threatened to make just enough for the people who RSVPed and then tell the “unexpected” guests that if I’d known they were coming I’d have had enough for them. But, I don’t.
OH, I hate that! My hubby says that we should do just what Paradisefound says but I’ve never had the guts!
