January 31st, 2006
We started school at 9:15 this morning.
Warm-up: I wrote “My favorite candy is” on the whiteboard. Both of them said their favorite candy is SweeTarts. Probably because they were eating them at the time.
Language Arts: Ani did 3 pages in her Phonics Review workbook. She read lessons 55, 56, 57, 58, and 59 in her McGuffey First Reader. She did a handwriting sheet on the letter G. Cameron did a page in his Letter Dot-to-Dot workbook. I read chapters 14-17 in Treasure Island (great illustrated classics) to the kids.
Math: Ani watched the Math-U-See Beta video for lessons 7, 8, and 9 She did the lessons for 7, 8, and 9 and the Unit I test. Cameron did a page in his Numbers Dot-to-Dot workbook.
Religion: I read four pages in the Illustrated Book of Mormon Volume 2 to the kids.
Unit Study: I showed them a picture of a bell tower and read to them about it and we played a trivia game about it (who knew the word curfew originally meant cover fire). Then we filled three water glasses to different levels and the kids happily made up tunes playing the water glasses.
We finished school at 11:30. Total time today was 2 hours and 15 mintues.
